Name every surface in the scope
“Paint the room” can mean different things to different people. Specify whether you want walls, ceilings, trim and doors included. Identify rooms that should keep their existing color and features that need special attention.
Photograph the space in daylight and with the lights you normally use. Include close views of visible marks or uneven areas. Those photos help explain the request, although the surface condition may still need an in-person assessment.
Talk about preparation first
Ask what preparation is included before paint is applied. Wall repair, drywall texturing and painting are related tasks, but they should not be assumed to be the same line item. If a wall has recurring damage, discuss that condition before treating the project as a cosmetic refresh.
Also agree on protection for floors, furniture and adjacent surfaces, and how the room will be left at the end of the work. These practical details belong in the scope alongside color and finish.
Compare color in the actual space
View your shortlisted colors in the room at different times of day. Compare them with the flooring, countertops or furniture that will remain. A color that looks calm on a phone screen can feel different across an entire wall.
Ask about the finish and care instructions for the exact paint under consideration. The needs of a busy hallway may differ from those of a quiet guest room; the product choice should reflect how the surface will be used.
- List rooms and surfaces separately.
- Identify repairs or texture changes to discuss.
- Save color references and record the samples you choose.
- Explain furniture moving and access arrangements.
- For a business, describe operating hours and areas that must stay accessible.
Prepare for a clearer estimate
Send Jolon Pro your location, photos and surface list. Explain whether the project is residential or commercial and any access constraints. Ask that the quote identify preparation, painted surfaces, material responsibilities and cleanup so everyone understands the same scope.
