A trend rooted in everyday comfort

The September 2026 Houzz Bathroom Trends Study connects relaxation with cleanliness, spacious showers and organized storage. Its U.S. homeowner survey supports a practical interpretation of the spa trend: a room that is pleasant to use, rather than a collection of specialty equipment. The findings are national, not Houston-specific.

Decide what calm means in your household

For one family, it may mean that two people can get ready without competing for counter space. For another, it may mean fewer bottles in the shower and a place to put fresh towels. Describe the routines that currently feel crowded or inconvenient.

Before requesting a larger shower, ask what the change would take from another part of the room. Door movement, storage and the space around the vanity all belong in the discussion. A generous-looking photo does not reveal the dimensions of your bathroom.

Keep the material story simple

Choose a small group of finishes to compare together: the main tile, vanity, countertop and paint. A sample board can help you see whether you prefer a warm or cooler direction before committing to the whole room.

Consider everyday care alongside the visual effect. Ask for the cleaning instructions for each proposed surface and how the shower, tile edges and adjacent walls will be detailed. Discuss existing damage and ventilation concerns during the assessment; new finishes alone are not an answer to an unresolved problem.

  • List what currently sits on the vanity.
  • Identify storage that should be reachable during your routine.
  • Explain whether you want to keep the bathtub.
  • Bring photographs of the entire room and any damaged areas.

Make a focused remodeling brief

A useful brief might say: “We want a less crowded shower, concealed storage for daily items and a warm, simple palette.” That gives a contractor more to work with than “make it look like a spa.”

For a bathroom in Houston, Richmond or another part of Texas, share your photos and priorities with Jolon Pro. We can discuss which changes need evaluation and how to define the scope. The aim is a bathroom that works for your household, with the look supporting that purpose.
